California State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) Program will host matchmaking sessions between regional suppliers and major international manufacturers
The California STEP partner The San Diego Center for International Trade Development, in conjunction with the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce will be hosting matchmaking sessions between regional suppliers and major international manufactures in the Southern California/Baja California border region at the MEXPORT Trade Show on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
There is currently a $13 billion supplier's market within the Baja California, Mexico manufacturing industry. The goal of the matchmaking sessions is to facilitate exports from the area by matching small and medium-sized businesses with the manufacturers that are looking to source services, components, raw materials, and other commodities regionally.
The California STEP project, funded in part through a grant award with the U.S. Small Business Administration, combines a network of state, federal, private and non-profit trade promotion organizations in California to facilitate export promotion activities, serving targeted industries, to drive exports for small businesses.
"We are extremely pleased with the success the STEP program is having here in the San Diego region," says SBA District Director Ruben Garcia. "Both the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce and the San Diego CITD are to be commended for their excellent work."
MEXPORT is the region's premier industrial business to business trade show organized by the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce. The 23rd Annual MEXPORT will be held on May 17th, 2012 and over 200 exhibitors and more than 2000 attendees are expected.
