SBA to Host Meet the Lenders Forum in Kalamazoo

Detroit, MI. – The SBA, along with the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center and SCORE mentors will host a free Meet the Lenders Forum on May 24th from 9 a.m. to Noon at Haworth College of Business, 3110 Schneider Hall, Kalamazoo, MI 49008, at Western Michigan University.   The session is open to prospective and existing business owners who are seeking funding to start or expand a business.  Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to meet with multiple lenders in one location, at one time, to discuss lending criteria, loan products, and alternative lending options.

"This is a great opportunity for business owners to meet with many different lending institutions, at one time, and talk about potential funding opportunities." said Brian Picarazzi, Senior Area Manager for the U.S. Small Business Administration.   "Whether a business owner wants to finance a building, purchase equipment, or fund working capital, lenders who have the ability to finance these types of transactions through SBA loan programs will be on hand."

To make the most out of the event, come prepared with multiple copies of your business plan, cash flow projections and know your credit score.  The Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center and SCORE are available to assist you in developing the business plan. Please contact the MI-SBTDC at 269.387.6004 or sbtdc-kzoo@wmich.edu. SCORE can be reached at 616.771.0305.

In addition, multiple federal and state small business program representatives will be available to answer questions including the SBA, the Economic Development Foundation, the USDA, the MI-SBTDC and SCORE.

California State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) Program will host matchmaking sessions between regional suppliers and major international manufacturers

The California STEP partner The San Diego Center for International Trade Development, in conjunction with the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce will be hosting matchmaking sessions between regional suppliers and major international manufactures in the Southern California/Baja California border region at the MEXPORT Trade Show on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
There is currently a $13 billion supplier's market within the Baja California, Mexico manufacturing industry. The goal of the matchmaking sessions is to facilitate exports from the area by matching small and medium-sized businesses with the manufacturers that are looking to source services, components, raw materials, and other commodities regionally.
The California STEP project, funded in part through a grant award with the U.S. Small Business Administration, combines a network of state, federal, private and non-profit trade promotion organizations in California to facilitate export promotion activities, serving targeted industries, to drive exports for small businesses.
"We are extremely pleased with the success the STEP program is having here in the San Diego region," says SBA District Director Ruben Garcia. "Both the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce and the San Diego CITD are to be commended for their excellent work."
MEXPORT is the region's premier industrial business to business trade show organized by the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce. The 23rd Annual MEXPORT will be held on May 17th, 2012 and over 200 exhibitors and more than 2000 attendees are expected.

SBA San Diego District Office

May 17, 2012 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Join us for this informative introduction to SBA's HUBZone Certification program.

If you are a small business owner interested in learning more about SBA's HUBZone Certification program you should plan on attending this free HUBZone Outreach Seminar, at the San Diego County Health Services Complex – Coronado Room, 3851 Rosecrans St., San Diego CA 92110-3115 (Free parking on-site.)
This HUBZone Outreach Seminar, a part of the HUBZone Outreach Initiative to promote job development and growth, will provide an overview of the program; help you determine if your business is located within a HUBZone; if it is eligible for the program; and how to apply for HUBZone status. The Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities. These preferences go to small businesses that obtain HUBZone certification in part by employing staff who live in a HUBZone. The company must also maintain a "principal office" in one of these specially designated areas.
In Fiscal Year 2010, HUBZone firms were awarded approximately $12 billion in prime contracting, including approximately $3 billion in HUBZone set-asides. Between April and May, SBA will be conducting 68 HUBZone Outreach Initiatives, hosted by each of its District Offices around the country.
Seating is limited. Those interested in attending should reserve a seat by sending an email to Rosa.Rodarte@sba.gov.
Please include:
• Attendee Name(s)
• Firm Name
• Full Address (including City & Zip code)
• Phone Number
